Closing circles

Els Casals is one of the former guardian's houses of a farming, cattle raising and forest explotation. The explotation is run by a family dedicated to a common project, the life in the countryside, in which the different branches complement each other.

The mother, Dolors Prat, is in charge of La Rovira, an agrotourism accommodation (full rental), which used to be another guardian's house of the finca. Like Els Casals, it is also totally restored.

Three of the sons (Lluís, Jordi and Miquel) deal with the maintenance of the forest, and the care of the cattle and poultry. They also farm the land (cereals and fodder) and look after the garden (vegetables and garden produces). The other two sons, ( Carme and Oriol) work for Els Casals. All together, they contribute to close the circle. A circle which springs up from the land, with the origin of the produce, and closes back to the land, when the product is offered at Els Casals' table.

In our finca, Malla, we breed beef and farm chicken for the Cooperative of Natural Meat of the Berguedà. We also breed, for our own consumption, other select poultry (capon, little hens...), and finally we have pork farms, where the complete cycle is made (reproduction, breeding and fattening).

We grow all kinds of vegetables and garden produces: several varieties of salads, tomatoes, onions, garlic, pumpkins, aubergines, pees, broad beans, cabbages,.... Hens give us the eggs. Our beef is for fattening, therefore we bring the milk, curd cheese and other cheeses from neighboring farms.

At the hotel and restaurant, you will be attended by a team managed by the couple formed by Oriol and Marta. Oriol is in charge of the kitchen and Marta deals with the hotel and the restaurant's room.
